A big thank you to our testers for the Green Trail Concept certification webapp

Thanks for contributing to Green Trail Concept!(2)

Green Trail Concept (GTC) is developing a webapp to assess sustainability in trail running events and help race organisers transition towards more sustainable practices. Thanks to our testers, we are one step closer to making it a success!

Gathering insights from organizers and experts

Recently, the GTC team has held a series of stakeholder workshops, in Spanish and in English, to gather valuable feedback from trail running event organizers, together with sports and sustainability experts from around Europe.

During the workshops, participants had the opportunity to explore the web app, which is not yet publicly available, and navigate through its various sections while entering data about their races. This hands-on experience allowed them to test the design, evaluate the user-friendliness, and explore features for data entry, results display, and the scoring system. The participants were able to explain their thoughts and experiences using the app both during the sessions and as well as through an online questionnaire.

These workshops have been essential in helping understand the opportunities and challenges faced by organisers when implementing sustainable practices. With this feedback, we are refining the GTC webapp to be more user-friendly, transparent, and effective, ensuring the feasibility of implementation and the accuracy and fairness of the results.

New features and improvement Proposals

During the testing sessions, new features of the tool were identified based on testers’ feedback, and new design and functionality improvement proposals were gathered. These included suggestions like providing downloadable reports, offering templates for written prove and including a community area to share best practices. The auditing mechanism for the system was widely discussed, and different solutions were proposed.

These improvements will ensure that sustainability is both accessible and achievable for all race organisers. After all, the goal of the GTC webapp is not only to assess the sustainability of the events but also guide organisers towards achieving this sustainability.

Gratitude to our testers

We would like to express our gratitude to our testers for their time, expertise, and commitment to making the GTC webapp a valuable resource and to sustainability. Your contributions are very much appreciated and vital to helping us create a tool that truly supports sustainable trail running.
