Green Trail Concept is a project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, that seeks to improve the governance of trail running events by incorporating environmentally, socially, economically, and ethically sustainable practices in the management of mountain running events.

We`re thrilled to announce the beginning of a new chapter of Green Trail Concept at the Österlen Spring Trail in Sweden! 🇸🇪
Last week, our consortium gathered in southern Sweden for a data collection event and our annual meeting, marking the next phase of our project.
At the Österlen Spring Trail event, we engaged with participants to raise awareness about sustainability in trail running. 🌍 We even had a stand where attendees filled out questionnaires to provide valuable insights into our project and the event. 📝
But our work didn`t stop there – we continued to connect with the local community and ran the talk by participating in races ourselves. 🏃♀️
Following the event, we held our annual consortium meeting in Brösarp, reflecting on the event and planning the project`s activities for the upcoming year. 📅
We`re excited to take the next steps in our journey, including developing a certification scheme for trail races. 🌳

2023 has been quite a special year for @greentrailconcept: it has seen its birth and initial developments towards a more #sustainable #trailrunning and the creation of a sustainability certification for outdoor running events! All info in our new article, link in bio!

📅 Last month @greentrailconcept prepared a workshop aimed at gathering information to create a sustainability certification for outdoor mountain running events.
🌍 The event explored the opportunities, solutions, challenges and limitations for making trail running events more sustainable and involved the participation of a diverse group of stakeholders involved in trail running: race organizations, volunteers in races, local administrations, social and environmental entities, researchers, managers of protected areas and more.
🏞️ This diversity allowed for the sharing and comparing of multiple points of view, gathering experiences and information from the different existing perspectives that can be used to build a set of sustainability performance indicators for the certification that are realistic and adapt to the capabilities and responsibilities of the different actors involved.
👥 It was hosted and organized by @kilianjornetfoundation and @ecoserveis, with the help of @gridarendal and @osterlentrail.
